an answer to a very common question

I know, no one asked it here recently, buit my old buddy Stephane at ideaGasms (capital G for Gnosis, perhaps?) put out this nice blog the other day:

Cheerleading the Ego http://www.ideagasms.net/cheerleading-the-ego/[/url]

heres a nice snippet:

Shame? Simply congratulate the ego that it is such a great
narcissistic little pet. It obsesses about its looks,
reputation, status, etc., enough to freak out and send you
this message that it might be ugly or dumb and in need of
fixing. “Yes, ego! You’re worthless and unlovable!
You’re an abomination to God! Suicide is probably the best
option, thanks for your input, but I think we’ll try
eating less sugar and drinking less beer. For the ugly
face, which is unchangeable, I think we’ll try accepting
that this is probably meant to pay off some kind of karmic
debt. Perhaps we made others feel ugly in a past lifetime
or something. Who knows. But you go right ahead and feel
worthless for as long as you need to. It’s OK, I don’t
mind that the face is reddened and you feel like plowing
your head in the sand. You’re a good ego. You’re very
adept at feeling ashamed. This is fascinating.”

This is Step One — accepting the ego for what it is.

Stephane is famous on thde internet, mainly for his seduction/dating techniques. About a year and a half ago, he went off the deep end and started meditating full time and progressing very well. He has since dumped the "seduction" and is instead trying to train people to be integrous and, without saying it, sovereign.

As we train the dog to sit and wait, Ego is no more different in it's abillty to abey the master.

Ain't that the truth. In some way it's amusing to see how much some singular expressions of the whole fear that realization as they have invested so much (not really) in that puppy. Look at his shiny golden necklace and his perfect fur (adore him). Look at his scary eyes and hear his angry bark (fear him). Look at his limp and his raggy fur (pity him). The dog is the master. As we are part of the same whole it's like being amused of one self, no pity, no judgment only love. All is as it should be.

Got me thinking of some taoist quotes:

Most people,
when critisized for being egocentric
Only find clever means
Of hiding it from others.
After a while
They fool even themselves.
They then take secret egocentric delight
In imagining themselves egoless.
Now, with me it is different!
I am truly egoless.
Like a lonely orphan marooned nowhere.
In my very exultant shout "I am egoless"
I lose my ego.
My ego remains
But it no longer belongs to me.

Most people hate egotists.
They remind them of themselves.
I love egotists.
They remind me of me.

Whichever the way the wind blows,
whichever the way the world goes,
Is perfectly fine with me!
Whichever the way the wind blows,
whichever the way the world goes,
Is good enough for me!
Whichever the way the wind blows,
whichever the way the world goes,
Its all the same to me!
