Right now I am reading transcending perception part 2. It says we are left on our own if we turn away from the supreme authority.
What happened to the Jews? Boy, they bear the most misery of people of all religions. They were basically harrassed and killed by Christians for at least 1200 years. Is it because they worship Yahweh, and Yahweh is not the supreme authority? If that's true, then that's sad because most of them today think that they worship the one and only God. But I think in Seminary I learned that Yahweh is most likely a Canaanite deity. Most Jews I talked to believed that they were killed simply because they were the bearers of the truth and evil Christians didn't like that.
If you take the Old Testament from beginning to end (Less people than you would think have read the bible cover to cover from beginning to end), you get a clearer picture why they are "the chosen people" and it has little to do about what we think it does. They are the poster children for "do not let it happen to you". Someone had to be the example on "what not to do". Ø would set them up with all the needed and a king later they would turn away. They would get themselves into trouble and cry about it. After a time Ø would determine they had suffered enough and help them out only for them to do it again. Their function is to show us what not to do because over and over they would do this same thing. The amount of suffering became longer and longer before Ø would come to the rescue. Eventually Ø it was "Pweeeet! Everyone out of the pool!"
Yes they were special in that they get a pass for being the "example" but it is what one must avoid and not emulate. That misery is all there own fault and is born solely out of ego for good reason.
Ego tries to paint it that they are above or they have somehow "cornered the Truth". You will soon see just how absurd that notion really is.
What a great example they are for us all!
