There is a difference between a seperate self and ego , as long as we are here percieving one percieves seperate.
Knowing and feeling everything is interconnected helps to create a positive biased seperate self , seeing as we still percieve seperation the most positvive polarisation one can have is striving towards knowing all is One and One/Ø has set up the game of experience to know polarasation.

Ego , is what one is taught to be and what one believes to be convinced from left-side analytical thinking , it's all the info that one absorbs which isn't questioned
and in our life before maturing conciousness need to survive. The fun bit is that our surroundings seem to have gone haywire for thousands of years by polarising towards the "mind" , not creating a balance which in turn makes an environment where the difficulty lies in percieving beyond mere ego.

Life is a gift and it is a gift we are here able to experience , therefore we are created as confused bits of conciousness , if this gift didn't had a function we wouldn't be here so yeah...percieving ourself as individual is a great thing and to be enjoyed.

But "ego" better be defined clearly before one starts to play with it

I got some high strangeness on this as they were not entirely accurate for the left-brain thinkers.

Ego is physicality you have no separation without it. You have no physical expression without it. We cannot we get rid of it and still be in the universe as it is. So what are we doing? We are putting Self in control of ego such that it ego operates to manifest positive experience for the observer. We are not killing it.

We are changing the governor of experience.

But in the presence of a flaccid parent (observer), will indeed attempt to rule the world.
