I heard something back about a year ago, a comment on youtube, someone said that Sorter ended up getting killed in Revolver.
In the version I saw, he did not. I think that's the version most of us have seen.
I downloaded the other version unknowingly, and watched it. I must say that it's not nearly as good.
In the dead-Sorter version, there is no monologue while Jake's falling down the stairs at the beginning of the movie. Jake has his "fear me" chat with Macha at about 3/4 through the movie instead of at the end. Sorter gets killed by the little red-faced guy (who's the only one left alive, so Macha gets the little girl and I presume her father is killed)
It's clear this movie was filmed with two versions in mind. I don't know which one was released in the theaters, but the one I first saw did a better job of showing the way toward ego attenuation. There's not even any credits at the end of this other version.
When I did a google search for "two versions" revolver sorter ritchie, I got nothing, NOTHING on this subject. I think this is purposeful. I got very little more with a "directors cut" search.
the right film will get to the right people.
